A pair of summer camps for high schoolers at Oklahoma City University will help ease the summer doldrums while helping them chart a path for their post-graduation endeavors.
Become a champion at the Esports Bootcamp
For those who love gaming and dream of taking their skills to the next level, OCU's Esports Bootcamp, running from June 16-19, offers a chance to explore the thrilling world of competitive gaming. This four-day camp is for middle and high school students eager to learn about esports content creation, competition strategies and its rich cultural history.
The Esports Bootcamp is more than just playing games — it is a preview of a possible future college major with engaging classes focused on streaming and content creation, receiving one-on-one coaching to sharpen gaming skills, learning the fundamentals of teamwork and more. Instructors will cover topics like the history of esports and strategies for maintaining mental and physical well-being as a gamer.
Lunch and snacks will be provided each day, and all campers will receive an OCU Esports T-shirt. The registration fee is $300 per camper and can be made online at okcu.edu/esports-bootcamp.
Get a taste of college life at Emerging Stars Summer Academy
High school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors can explore what college life is like during the Emerging Stars Summer Academy, taking place July 14-17 all around campus.
This four-day academy runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day and offers interactive activities for prospective students in many of the diverse programs within OCU's colleges and schools including health professions, business, liberal arts, dance and arts management, music and theater. Through immersive activities, engaging discussions and meaningful interactions with the campus community, students will get a firsthand look at what makes OCU a vibrant and supportive place to learn and grow.
The registration fee is $10 and can be waived according to need. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided each day. Online registration is available at okcu.edu/emerging-stars-academy. Priority registration ends June 13.
