OCU repeats as Certified Healthy Campus

Oklahoma City University was named both a Certified Healthy Campus and a Certified Healthy Business at the merit level for 2021.

Certified Healthy recipients are recognized as leaders in their communities for going above and beyond to make health and wellness a priority.

OCU has achieved Certified Healthy Campus status every year since 2016. The university has a health and wellness committee that designs and implements wellness programs including steps challenges, group yoga instruction, healthy eating lectures and mindfulness activities. The campus also hosts an annual benefits and wellness expo.

The Certified Healthy program began in 2003 as a collaboration of the Oklahoma Turning Point Council, the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals, the Oklahoma State Chamber and the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The certification showcases businesses, campuses, communities, congregations, early childhood programs, restaurants and schools that are committed to supporting healthy choices through environmental and policy change. The recipients are recognized for working to improve the health of Oklahomans by implementing elements, policies and programs that help Oklahomans eat better, move more and be tobacco free.
