OCU Student Named Defensive Player of the Year

Student Alexandre Taiar was named the Sooner Athletic Conference men’s soccer defensive player of the year.

Taiar, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was joined by OCU goalkeeper Vladimir Kalajdzic on the first team. Petar Djurdjevic and Logan Stewart were named to the all-SAC second team.

Taiar led an Oklahoma City defense which allowed only 1.43 goals per game and pitched four shutouts. He also led OCU in goals with 10 and was the first Star to ever garner NAIA offensive player of the week honors in men’s soccer during the week of Oct. 12-18.

Kalajdzic, a junior from Novi Sad, Serbia, collected his third straight first-team honors on his career. He was second in the SAC in both total saves (79) and saves per game (4.39). His 79 total saves also put him at 47th in the NAIA.

Djurdjevic, a sophomore out of Belgrade, Serbia, and Stewart, a junior from Denton, Texas, both reeled in their second consecutive all-SAC second-team honors.
