Women in Leadership Conference to Feature Corporate Leaders

by Rod Jones

Oklahoma City University’s seventh annual Women in Leadership Conference will feature leading business women and men for a powerhouse workshop and panel April 20 at the Cox Convention Center downtown.

The conference is a one-day professional and personal development event that offers enhanced leadership training, high-level networking and inspirational presentations from global business leaders. The annual conference provides the opportunity for the next generation of senior leaders to learn from talented speakers and connect through conversations on important issues.

The 2016 event features presentations on how to build a better professional network, art of successful negotiation, leadership gender differences, power of body language, critical thinking strategies and other topics.

“We have assembled top executives and thought leaders who will share their perspectives and personal stories on topics impacting women as professionals, entrepreneurs and students,” said Melissa Cory, director of communications for OCU’s Meinders School of Business. “The conference is designed to give participants access to expertise with a highly interactive program format that will provide the insight, tools and motivation to be successful leaders in their personal and professional lives.”

Conference registration is $199 and can be made online at okcwomeninleadership.com, or by calling Cory at 405-208-5540 or emailing [email protected].

The keynote speaker will be Jaynie Studenmund, former CEO and president of Eharmony.com and a board member of LifeLock, Pinnacle Entertainment and CoreLogic. The morning keynote speaker Brian Uzzi, a Northwestern University professor and scientist, will present “How to Build a Better Professional Network.”

Other speakers and their sessions will include Marsha Firestone, founder and president of the Women Presidents’ Organization on “Collaboration & Success”; Nancy Parsons, CEO of CDR Assessment Group, Inc., with “Cracking the Code to the Glass Ceiling”; Patti Wood, professional speaker, author and body language expert on “The Power of Body Language”; and Kim Parrish, administrative law judge, with “Negotiation: The Leader’s Most Ignored and Most Critical Skill.”

Agee including Bill Anoatubby, governor of the Chickasaw Nation; John Higginbotham of the Bank of Oklahoma; Bob Mills of Bob Mills Furniture; and Michael Byrnes, president and general manager of the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
