“My accounting degree from Oklahoma City University and the Meinders School of Business gave me the necessary foundation to begin my career outside the traditional public accounting path. In my current role at Love’s, I rely heavily on the accounting principles and critical thinking skills I developed at OCU to create new accounting procedures and make decisions that influence my business segment. My time in the Meinders School of Business and as a student-athlete (Women’s Golf) prepared me to step into a leadership role and make a meaningful impact at Love’s early in my career.

I am the Manager of Love’s Truck Solutions Accounting at Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores. In my role, I oversee the team responsible for the day-to-day accounting of our Distribution Centers and Retread Tire Plants. I also serve as a financial business partner to our Supply Chain team, whose focus is the sourcing, distribution, and merchandising of the products sold in our 700+ Truck Care Shops and Travel Stops.”

“The education I received from OCU has been crucial to getting me where I am today. I learned so much from my professors and I am very proud to say I graduated from the Meinders School of Business. I am currently using my degree to work as a public accountant preparing taxes. I have qualified to sit for the CPA exam. Now that I have made it through tax season, I will start studying and taking exams in May.”

“My Accounting education has been integral to my professional growth, providing me with a solid foundation in accounting practices and tax regulations. Earning my Bachelor's Degree gave me foundational skills, while my Master's program has further sharpened and refined my analytical abilities and problem-solving expertise within specifically tax accounting. These accomplishments have prepared me for my upcoming role as tax staff at EY, where I’ll apply my knowledge to address complex tax issues and deliver impactful solutions. I’m excited to carry the lessons from my academic journey into this next chapter of my career.”

“Oklahoma City University provided me a great education. While there, I had tons of internship options within a 10-15 minute drive. Doing internships improved my understanding of materials taught in classes. As a graduate student, I’m still get asked frequently if I have done any internships. People are amazed when I say I’ve done several because of my proximity to opportunity while at OCU. By the time I graduated, not only did I have a clear grasp of what I desired in my future job, but I had real options because of the network I had built during my undergrad years.

The skills I gained at OCU made me self-sufficient to build my network and find the job that fit my personality best. I gained knowledge, skills, and experience that helped me improve my interview skills from scratch, function well in internships, and be confident in what I offer as a professional as I approach graduation and full-time work.”
