The Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment is dedicated to preparing dancers to work as performers, teachers, choreographers and arts/entertainment managers.
- Audition required for admission.
- Students start as dance majors taking a foundation of dance technique, arts management and production, teaching dance, choreography, dance history, voice, and general education courses in the first two years.
- Students apply for their final degree program for junior and senior years based on students’ interests and faculty evaluation of their skills, knowledge, and accomplishments.
- Dance Teaching stresses teaching skills, choreography, and leadership.
The dance teacher major is focused on developing employable dancers and teachers for the entertainment industry. The dance teacher program has three core focuses: dance technique training, choreography & pedagogy instruction, and arts management & business administration. Graduates can immediately begin teaching and choreographing OR perform first before pursuing their dance education and choreographic careers.
