Dr. Randi Von Ellefson, Oklahoma City University’s director of choral activities and artistic director of Canterbury Choral Society, is a key organizer for the 2008 national conference of the National Collegiate Choral Organization.
The Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 conference of university choral directors is hosted this year by the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.
Dr. Ellefson is NCCO president-elect, responsible for organizing choral performing ensembles at the Ohio conference. Robert Page, chorus master for the Cleveland Orchestra, the May Festival and Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Don Moses, University of Iowa professor emeritus will present two sessions on selected Haydn Masses. Earl Rivers of the College-Conservatory will give a performance workshop on the Bach B-Minor Mass with the University of Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and Baroque Orchestra.
As president-elect of NCCO, Dr. Ellefson also is planning the 2009 conference, to be held at Yale University. Concert highlights include a world premiere, a joint concert by Yale and Harvard, and collegiate choirs selected by audition.
Dr. Ellefson is responsible for selecting representatives from each state to the national board of NCCO. Professor Judith Willoughby, OCU’s associate director of choral activities, is beginning a two-year team as Oklahoma representative, succeeding Dr. Dirk Garner of Oklahoma State University.
