WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12
The Jerusalem Lyric Trio will give a free lecture-recital from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University.
Now in its 13th year, the Israeli ensemble has performed in Israel and toured Europe, the United States, South America, and Russia. The Israeli trio is comprised of soprano Amalia Ishak, flutist Wendy Eisler-Kashy, and pianist Allan Sternfield.
In addition to classical repertoire, the Jerusalem Lyric Trio presents works inspired by biblical texts, the city of Jerusalem, the landscape of Israel, the Holocaust, and traditional songs in Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino.
The Jerusalem Lyric Trio has represented Israel in international music festivals including Prague’s Old Testament in the Arts, Judische Kulturtage of Munich, Musical Spring in St. Petersburg, and Encuentros of Buenos Aires. The group also performs in chamber music series, synagogues, churches, universities, and museums.
The Trio recently released a CD entitled "If I Forget Thee, O Jerusalem."
Before the OCU appearance, the ensemble will perform classical and Israeli music at the Oklahoma City Community College Theatre. Tickets for the Nov. 18 concert are $22 general admission, $17 for faculty, staff, and alumni; and $10 for children 17 and younger.
