Dusseldorf Vocal Coach to Lead March 30 Master Class
A vocal coach from Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf will work with Oklahoma City University singers in a March 30 in a master class in Petree Recital Hall. The 2-5 p.m. session is free and open to the public. Ellen Rissinger has been a member of the music staff at Glimmerglass Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Utah Festival Opera, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and Chatham College. She has been rehearsal pianist for Opera Company of Philadelphia, Kentucky Opera, Baltimore Opera, Harrisburg Opera, the Pittsburgh Symphony and Indianapolis Opera. Rissinger has worked with conductors Julius Rudell, RogerNorrington, Marvin Hamlisch, George Manahan, John Demain, Jane Glover, Hal France, Ward Holmquist, and Joseph Rescigno. She earned her graduate degree in accompanying from the University of Cincinnati, and went on to attend the young artist training programs of Glimmerglass Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Aspen Opera Theater Center. Since 2003, Rissinger has lived and worked in Germany. She began with an engagement in Wurzburg, spent the last two seasons as head coach in Pforzheim and, this season, joined the music staff of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf and Duisburg.
