OKLAHOMA CITY — An opening reception for works by artist Jennifer Cocoma Hustis will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 4 in the Nona Jean Hulsey Gallery at Oklahoma City University.
The exhibit will be on display from Aug. 30 to Oct. 9. The reception and entrance to the gallery are free.
Hustis received her formal art schooling at the Pratt Institute, the Royal College of Art and the University of Oklahoma. Much of her work is inspired by interactions with animals, particularly horses.
“I have been fortunate enough to pay tribute to most of my animal teachers in my life through my artwork by exhibiting in galleries and museums,” she stated on her Web site, http://sites.google.com/site/jenhustis/Home.
Her recognitions include the Artist’s Award of Excellence from the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.
She will be exhibiting approximately 20 paintings and mixed-media works at OCU.
The Hulsey Gallery is located in the Norick Art Center at N.W. 26th Street and Blackwelder Avenue.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 2-5 p.m. Sunday.
