OCUís Marianne Vannatta Race with the Stars Nears
OKLAHOMA CITY Ė The Marianne Vannatta Race with the Stars will fill the streets in the Oklahoma City University neighborhood Nov. 7, starting at 8 a.m. at the Henry J. Freede Wellness & Activity Center, 1700 N.W. 27th St. The race is organized to promote health and wellness in the community and to increase scholarship support for graduate nursing students at OCUís Kramer School of Nursing. More importantly, the program is a means for the university to contribute qualified educators into the healthcare sector to deal with the significant shortage of nurses in our country. The race includes a 5K run and a 1-mile walk. The run and the walk will start at 8 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. respectively. Interested participants can pre-register from now until Nov. 2 for $15 or register from Nov. 3 to race day for $20. To register online, visit On race day, 5k registration is from 7 to 7:30 a.m. and 1 Ė mile walk registration is between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m. Race packet pick up begins Nov. 5-6 from noon - 6 p.m. each day at Bicycle Alley, 1015 N Broadway OKC, OK 73102. Registration includes long-sleeved T-shirt and goody bag while supplies last. First, second and third place race awards will be given in each age group and the first 300 participants to cross the finish line will receive a special prize.
