Acclaimed Buddhist Author to Speak at Oklahoma City University
OKLAHOMA CITY – The author of “Money, Sex, War, Karma: Notes for a Buddhist Revolution” will give a public presentation Oct. 26 at Oklahoma City University. A writer and dharma teacher, David Loy’s interests cover a broad spectrum from ethics to ecology, economics and war. He will speak at 7 p.m. in OCU’s Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel, located adjacent to N.W. 23rd St. just east of Kentucky Ave. Loy is the Besl professor of ethics/religion and society at Xavier University in Cincinatti. Earlier this year, he was a distinguished visiting professor at the Institute for Advanced Study of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. A Zen practitioner for many years, Loy is a qualified teacher in the Sanbo Kyodan tradition of Japanese Buddhism. His visit is sponsored by Oklahoma City University’s Vivian Wimberly Center for Ethics and Servant Leadership and The Buddhist Association of Oklahoma.
