Byron Martin, a senior composition major at Oklahoma City University, was one of six composers from around the nation awarded a summer fellowship to the 2010 Chamber Music Institute at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
As part of the program, each composer was assigned to work with one of six chamber music ensembles in residence June 12-19. Martin created, rehearsed and recorded a new work with the TBD string quartet from University of Michigan.
Martin is a member of the Bass School of Music’s Project 21: Music for the 21st Century. His most recent OCU premiere was the Project 21 season-ending song cycle: “The Penultimate Action: Tales of death and those who gather ‘round” featuring baritone Clayton Brown and Corie Melaugh, piano.
