OKLAHOMA CITY – The new $10 million state-of-the-art Devon Boathouse, home of OCU Rowing and Canoe/Kayak, will be christened during one of the most popular parties of the year and the event is just around the corner. Tickets are available now for the blu Party, which begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 7.
Complete with fine food, live entertainment, a wine tasting and streaming blue lights, the party under the stars will kick off this year’s Head of the Oklahoma Regatta. The event will be held at the Devon Boathouse, home of OCU rowing and canoe/kayak and headquarters for the OKC National High Performance Center. The boathouse is located on the Oklahoma River east of the Lincoln Avenue bridge at 616 S.E. 6th St.
Proceeds will benefit youth riversport programs and Olympic hopefuls. Youth outreach programs include the free “Let’s Move: OKC RIVERSPORT Challenge” program for youth ages 8 to 12, high school rowing programs for at risk youth and scholastic kayaking programs for metro youth. While the younger athletes are just getting started, athletes at the OKC National High Performance Center are training in hopes of making the 2012 Olympic games. More than two dozen of the nation’s top rowers and kayakers have moved to Oklahoma City to train on the Oklahoma River.
