OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) announced today a new member of its board of trustees.
Governor Brad Henry appointed Kent Buchanan, professor of biology at Oklahoma City University, to the board.
Buchanan is also the Biology Department chairman at OCU. He earned his doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
“Dr. Buchanan’s work of promoting science is evident in his dedication to helping future scientists,” said Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry. “He joins a board that shares his passion of encouraging young scientists and mathematicians from across our state, a mission that is important in maintaining and improving the quality of life for everyone here and beyond our state borders.”
OSSM started in 1983 under a legislative action. It is designed as a two-year residential public high school for academically gifted students across the state.
