The Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra will perform an Italian-themed concert, “A Night in Rome,” at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in Petree Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

The evening will be preceded by an Italian buffet in the Atrium of the Bass Music Center at 6:30 p.m. (Tickets: $20 from 405.208.5227.)

“A Night in Rome” begins with Overture to La forza del destino by Giuseppe Verdi, followed by? Intermezzo from Pagliacci by Ruggiero Leoncavallo and Fountains of Rome by Ottorino Respighi.

After intermission, the orchestra will present Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90, Italian, followed by Capriccio Italien by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The 80-member ensemble is under the direction of Benjamin Nilles. The orchestra's season continues Feb. 17 with New York-themed music from Leonard Bernstein, William Schuman, Aaron Copland, John Adams and George Gershwin.

Its April 3 season finale, "Paris," will present Hector Berlioz's Requiem at First Presbyterian Church, in collaboration with University choral ensembles.
