Pianist Cancels Feb. 6 Concert; Will Play with Orchestra Feb. 17
Unexpected surgery has forced pianist Jack Gibbons to cancel his scheduled Feb. 6 performance on the Oklahoma City University Distinguished Artists' Series. Gibbons plans to travel to campus later this month to perform with the Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra. Refunds for advance-sale tickets will be issued by the OCU ticket office at 405.208.5227.
The orchestra concert, set for 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, will feature Gibbons on his signature piece: Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in the Petree Recital Hall at the Bass School of Music. Admission is free and open to the public. Also on the OCU orchestra's New York-themed orchestra program: works by Leonard Bernstein, William Schuman, Aaron Copland and John Adams under the baton of Benjamin Nilles.
