Pianist Jack Gibbons to Perform with OCU Symphony Orchestra

Gershwin specialist Jack Gibbons will perform with the Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in Petree Recital Hall, 2501 N. Blackwelder. The concert is free and open to the public.

The New York-themed concert will feature Gibbons on piano for his signature piece, George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” accompanied by the OCU Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Benjamin Nilles.

Also on the New York program: “Newsreel” by William Schuman, “Lollapalooza” by John Adams, “Symphony No. 2, Mysterious Mountain” by Alan Hovhaness, and Three Dance Episodes from “On the Town,” by Leonard Bernstein.

The event will be preceded by a New York-themed buffet dinner in the Atrium of the Bass Music Center at 6:30 p.m. Tickets ($20) are available from 405.208.5227.
