Oklahoma City University’s Head of the Oklahoma Regatta
and the Oklahoma Regatta Festival will return to the Boathouse District on the Oklahoma
River next month. The four-day event, scheduled for Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, will include the
USA Rowing World Challenge, corporate rowing, the blu VIP party, OCU’s Head of the
Oklahoma Regatta, the OGE NightSprints and a family festival.

Mike Knopp said the Oklahoma Regatta Festival has become the premier event of the
year on the Oklahoma River.
“The regatta festival showcases several Olympic sports and activities on the
Oklahoma River, attracting families for hands-on experiences, Oklahoma fare and
exciting racing,” Knopp said.
Admission and parking are free. Community activities begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 with
fine food, entertainment, a children’s plaza, corporate rowing, dragon boating and the
OGE NightSprints. Friday with conclude with the WIMGO fireworks show.
Collegiate, masters and juniors rowing events as well as men’s and women’s kayak
racing will be held Oct. 1 and 2. The regatta will feature the USA Dragon Boat Nationals
The blu VIP party will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Devon Boathouse, home of
Oklahoma City University rowing and kayaking and headquarters for the OKC National
High Performance Center. This year’s event will feature U.S. Olympic hopefuls as they
vie for the opportunity to compete in the 2012 games in London. Tickets to the blu party
are $75 each or $125 for a couple. Proceeds benefit youth programs and Olympic
hopefuls at the Oklahoma River.
