A college evaluation website geared toward prospective students around the nation included Oklahoma City University in its recently released Top 100 Social Media Colleges list.
StudentAdvisor.com ranked OCU number 72 nationwide on the list. The university was classified as a new entry.
StudentAdvisor is a Washington Post company that offers reviews and statistics about colleges across the country to help prospective students search for schools.
For the social media rankings, StudentAdvisor compared more than 6,000 colleges, universities and post-secondary schools. A research team collected each school’s usage of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, podcasts and other tools to determine how effective they were in engaging their audiences.
“All these colleges are showing how it’s done in social media — they get it,” editor-in-chief Dean Tsouvalas stated.
OCU has been expanding its presence on Facebook and Twitter, regularly posting interesting facts, contests and event announcements. It also has a YouTube channel, and many departments post informative podcasts and music on iTunesU, a section of the popular download site for colleges to distribute materials.
