Guests to Oklahoma City University can take advantage of the public wireless network which provides limited access to the Internet. Those utilizing this wireless network will only have the following protocols available to them:

PROTOCOLPortDescription
HTTP80HyperText Transfer Protocol, the protocol used by the World Wide Web.
HTTPS443HyperText Transfer Protocol over Secure Socket Layer, or HTTP over SSL.
IMAPS993Internet Message Access Protocol over SSL, a protocol for retrieving e-mail messages.
POP3S995Post Office Protocol 3 over SSL, a protocol for retrieving e-mail messages.
SSMTP465Simple Mail Transfer Protocol over SSL, a protocol for sending e-mail messages between servers.

The nature of wireless networks is they allow users to connect to the network by use of radio signals which are broadcasted to all recipients in their local area. This makes it easy for any third party to intercept network traffic intended for, or generated by, someone other than themselves. Wireless users should be aware of this and make every effort to keep their communications secure. Please do not relay any personal information over an unsecured network such as the guest wireless network.

It is strongly recommended that OCU students, faculty, and staff configure their wireless devices to use the encrypted and more secure wireless network as opposed to this guest wireless network.
