Book discussion journeys from Syria

The Let’s Talk About It book discussion series at Oklahoma City University will continue at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 with “The Beekeeper of Aleppo,” a novel by British Cypriot writer Christina Lefteri.

The discussion in Walker Center room 151 will be led by Imad Enchassi, a religion professor at OCU and senior imam at the Islamic Society of Greater OKC.

This season’s theme is “Immigration Stories in Contemporary Literature: Suspended Between Borders.”

“The Beekeeper of Aleppo” dramatizes the story of refugees fleeing the chaos of violent devastation in their homeland of Syria, and journeying across international borders and through a succession of relocation camps as they try to emigrate to England.

Walker Center is near NW 26th Street and Florida Avenue.

Let’s Talk About It is a grant-funded program of Oklahoma Humanities and is hosted by OCU’s Center for Interpersonal Studies through Film & Literature. For more information, visit the center’s website or email [email protected].
