Oklahoma City University's MFA creative writing program will welcome visiting writer Vu Tran for a local literary reading at 7 p.m. July 12 at the Meinders School of Business at N.W. 26th and McKinley. The event is free to the public and books will be available for purchase and singing.
A Vietnamese-American born in Vietnam and raised in Tulsa, Tran now teaches creative writing at the University of Chicago. His first novel “Dragonfish” is a noir fiction full of suspense dealing with crime, mistrust and lives changed long ago.
Tran was born in Saigon in 1975 and escaped the war-torn country in 1980 by boat with his mother and sister. He was in a refugee camp in Malaysia for four months before his family was reunited with his father and settled in Tulsa.
