Freshman Application Instructions

Application Instructions

The Office of Admissions will review your application file once we have received all the required parts of your application. Admission decisions are made on a continuous or “rolling” basis.

OCU offers an online application. A $55 application fee or qualified waiver request must be submitted before your application will be considered complete.

Create an Account

Access the online application and follow the prompts to create your registration information and register for our Online Application. If you are returning to an existing application, enter your Email (Username) and Password on the Login Page.

Complete and submit your application

Complete each section of the application thoroughly. Click the “Save and Continue” button at the bottom of each page to save your progress. Required questions are marked with a red line on the blank field. As part of your application, you must submit an essay. You may upload a Word document or PDF. You will see a confirmation message and receive a confirmation email once your application has been submitted successfully. Just come back to the Application Home Page to check your Application Status or see which Application Checklist items we have received.

The Common Application

Oklahoma City University also accepts the Common Application.

You can choose your preferred application at the completion of these instructions.

High School Counselor Recommendation Form

You may submit your request for a recommendation to your high school counselor through the online application. Go to the Recommendations Page and add the counselor’s name and email and then select the “High School Counselor Recommendation Form” from the list of recommendation types. Then select the “Save and Send Form” button and that will send an email to your high school counselor so that they may complete the request. If your high school counselor doesn’t receive an email, you may log back in and go back to this page and click on the “Resend Form” button and that will re-send your request.

Official High School Transcript

An official high school transcript must be submitted. To be considered official, the transcript must be sent directly from the school. Your high school counselor can upload an official copy of your high school transcript with their Recommendation Form or OCU accepts secure electronic transcripts from several reputable companies. Check with your high school to see if they participate with any electronic service. Please use [email protected] when asking the school to send the transcript to OCU via an electronic transcript service. We do not accept scanned copies of transcripts. You may be admitted with a six-semester transcript, but you must send a final transcript after graduating.

Official ACT or SAT Scores

(OCU ACT code is 3416 and SAT code is 6543)

Scores may appear on your high school transcript or be directly reported from the testing service. Test scores need not be reported independently if they have already been included with the official high school transcript. OCU accepts either ACT or SAT scores. You may submit as many individual test scores as you deem necessary. Test scores are not required for admission, but are needed for class placement or a placement exam must be taken.

If you are unable to provide a class rank or a test score, you will be reviewed through our test-optional pathway, a holistic review process that evaluates students on their admission application, high school GPA, class rigor, involvement, service and leadership, counselor recommendation letter, and additional letter of recommendation. You will need to ensure you answer all questions on your application—even those that are optional, submit a secondary letter of recommendation from a core subject teacher, and submit your resume that includes your activities, service, and leadership. (You may submit your resume and extra letter of recommendation through our Online Application as well!)

Your application for admission will also be your application for competitive scholarships. Deadlines and details are below.

  • Dec. 15 - Priority Competitive Scholarship Application Deadline

If you would like to be considered for competitive scholarships, please answer all questions on your application, submit an activities, leadership and service resume, and submit an additional letter of recommendation to [email protected], if not already included in your application materials.

Notifications will be made on March 15.

All university scholarships require full-time enrollment.
