Costumes are priced at $95 per look. A look includes all pieces of a costume except for footwear and wigs. For example, a 3-piece suit with shirt and tie will be priced as one look, a dress with petticoat, shawl and gloves will be priced as one look. For health and safety purposes, Oklahoma City University does not rent out footwear or wigs. 

There is a minimum requirement of 5 costume looks per rental. If a rental is less than 5 looks, OCU may consider the rental for an additional $25 fee per look.

Rental requests must be made at least 30 business days in advance of the pickup date. Rental requests that require shipping must be made at least 40 business days in advance of the shipping date. Requests should include the show name and at least a rough estimate of cast size and performance dates. Cast measurements will be due within two weeks of request approval. 

Rental requests for performances taking place during the summer months will be accepted on a case-by-case basis due to limited staffing during this time. Rental requests for June and July shows must be turned in by the last Monday of April.

The rental package will be picked up or sent to arrive 2 weeks before the first dress rehearsal. If costumes are requested sooner than this date, there will be an additional $20 fee per look, except in cases where a rush fee applies. Only the rush fee will be applied in this case.  

A rush fee of $125 will apply for any rental request made less than 30 business days from pickup or shipping date. 

A rental contract confirming the details of the agreement will be sent along with an invoice. The rental contract must be signed and returned within one week of the date it was sent. For rentals that exceed $5,000 a deposit of a third of the agreed upon amount will be required along with a signed copy of this contract.

Costumes must be returned within one week of closing unless otherwise agreed upon ahead of pickup/shipping. Costumes returned after the agreed upon date with no prior mutual agreement will be charged a late fee of $25 for the entire package each week that the rental package is late. The first week late starts the day after the agreed upon drop off date.  

Costumes that are altered by OCU and then are later removed from the rental package or are returned prior to rehearsal are subject to a $20 restocking fee per costume look. Costumes taken with the rental package must be postmarked or returned before the date of the first rehearsal, otherwise the full price will still be in effect.  

Payment must be made in full before pick-up/shipping date, or on the date of pick-up if prior arrangements are made. 

Terms of payment are:  

• A valid Oklahoma School Purchase Order
  • A purchase order number must be given
• Personal Check
  • Must have full amount and up to date information on check

OCU performs most alterations before costumes are sent out based on measurements received. Additional alterations can be made by the Customer on a temporary basis only. Temporary basis includes but is not limited to button repair, a temporary hem with a 3-4 stitch length, taking in the side seams and shoulders with a 3-4 stitch length, and snaps hand sewn on.  

Prohibited alterations and care include but are not limited to cutting of any kind, dyeing, washing with exception of Lycra which must be hand washed (costumes should be sprayed to prevent odor), adhesives of any kind (this includes hem tape and adhesive backed Velcro), and staples. Performing any of these actions will result in additional fees to be determined by the OCU costume staff.  

The Customer assumes all responsibility of the costumes once it has left OCU property. All pieces of the costume must be returned in the same condition as received. Any costume beyond repair or permanently altered will be subject to a replacement fee determined by the OCU costume staff.    

Damages that will not incur extra charges include but are not limited to: makeup stains (unless excessive and cannot be washed out), sweat stains on underarms, slight zipper repair, and slight applique or embellishment damage. OCU handles all laundering and dry cleaning for costumes. Costumes should be sprayed with a fabric safe deodorizer or anti-bacterial spray such as Febreeze or Lysol to keep smell away during the run.  

Oklahoma City University will not be responsible for any illness or injury caused by handling or wearing of any rented garments.

The above price is based upon the Customer’s specific performance needs, and the engagement dates can only be extended by mutual agreement and are subject to additional rental fees. Costumes returned after the agreed-upon date, without prior mutual agreement, will incur a $25 late fee for the entire package each week the rental is late. 

The rented costumes are to be used for the presentation before a live audience at the Customer’s venue only, and only on the dates specified above. Any other use, such as television or other media (except for publicity pictures), or any extension of use is prohibited, except by mutual agreement and is subject to additional rental fees. 

The Customer assumes responsibility for properly caring for these costumes while they are in the Customer’s possession and for returning them complete and in the same condition as received, excluding normal wear and tear for the run of the production. Damaged items will remain the property of Oklahoma City University. A piece list with costume descriptions will be provided on the pickup or shipping-out date. 

By signing below, the Customer agrees to abide by both this Rental Contract and the Rental Agreement Terms sent in advance of this contract.
