College is the time to learn, not just academically. It’s learning who you are, what matters to you, and what you value. And joining a sorority can help you find the people you will love, cry, and laugh your way through it with. Your future sisters will be there for you to lean on and to challenge you, as a built in support system and family at Oklahoma City University. Through the sorority experience you have the opportunity to explore leadership positions, to practice servant leadership through philanthropic efforts, and grow as an individual through programming. So, what does life look like as a sorority member?
As a sorority member, you and your sisters will come together to make a difference in your community. Every sorority supports a specific charity that they support yearlong through campus wide events and fundraisers. In 2023, our sororities raised $29,494.28 for their philanthropies and volunteered for 3,034 hours. Your sorority is also a lifelong networking opportunity. Your sorority helps you find your niche at Oklahoma City University through opportunities to connect and lead, and the benefits of the sorority experience are real. Sorority members are three times as likely to have an internship in school and twice as likely to have a job when they graduate.
As a sorority member, you and your sisters are each other's go-tos to have fun. It’s singing karaoke in the car together, late-night study buddies, that sister who is there when you need ice cream (or a hug), and a mentor who inspires you to be the best version of you. Your sorority is also a support system. That’s what sisterhood is all about. Sororities provide a family that is there through thick and thin— for celebrating your wins, for tough conversations, and for when you need a shoulder to lean on. Sisterhood is deeper than friendship and lasts far beyond the few years we’re in college.
